Paweł Łukaszewski joins SONORA Composers

It is a great honor that Paweł Łukaszewski, a leading Polish composer of choral music, joined SONORA Artists.

The composer's works have been performed at over 130 festivals in Poland and abroad and are recorded on over 150 Polish and foreign CDs (including Hyperion, Warner Classics, Chester Music, Centaur Records, PWM, DUX). Paweł Łukaszewski received many awards and distinctions for his work as a composer, incl. Choc de Classica, Orphée d'Or - Prix Hector Berlioz and nine times the Fryderyk Polish phonographic award. Łukaszewski's works have gained a significant position in Europe, the USA and Canada. His compositions are performed and premiered by renowned ensembles such as: The Kings Singers, The Holst Singers, BBC Singers, Trinity College Choir, Tenebrae, Britten Sinfonia, and Polyphony.

He is a vice-rector of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the president of the Musica Sacra Institute, the artistic director and the conductor of ‘Musica Sacra’ Choir of the Warsaw-Praga Cathedral and of the Musica Sacra Edition.

On October 30, the Polish Chamber Choir Schola Cantorum Gedanensis will present for the first time the new works by Łukaszewski: Sub tuum praesidium and Hymnus. On November 4, the Polish National Philharmonic Choir will premiere Paweł Łukaszewski's Missa Papae Joannis Pauli Secundi. In autumn, Tenebrae Choir, conducted by Nigel Short, will record a new album with the composer's work, most of which will be premiere recordings. The release of the album is planned for 2021.
