Summing up 2017 & new projects for 2018

Dear Friends,

it is our great pleasure to welcome 2018 with a short summary of last year achievements by SONORA team. We have been celebrating such highlights as ECHO Klassik award for Linus Roth and Thomas Sanderling for their album with London Symphony Orchestra and both the Fryderyk 2017 award and nomination for ICMA 2018 for Janusz Wawrowski for his Sequenza. Some new challenges have also arisen in front of us: Wilson Hermanto has been called for the principal guest conductor chair by Cameristi della Scala [recordings available here], Linus Roth became the artistic director of Leopold Mozart Competition and Janusz Wawrowski created a new orchestral formation – Warsaw String Players.

SONORA has grown a lot last year due to its wonderful new artists. From last year we represent Leonard Elschenbroich (cello) in Central and Eastern Europe. We also started a cooperation with great Polish composers: Elżbieta Sikora and Zygmunt Krauze who will celebrate their important anniversaries in the 2018-2019 season. Elżbieta Sikora will celebrate her 75. and Zygmunt Krauze his 80. birthdays. Congratulations and we wish them a lot of joy in creating music that impresses generations.

Also, five new CDs of our artists have been released: among others Wawrowski’s Brillante and two duo albums: Anna Maria Staśkiewicz with Bartosz Koziak and Mari and Mihkel Poll. We are also very proud of our new festival Sonus ex Machina initiated last year in Poznan, the city we come from [watch a teaser of the festival's title project focusing on the relationship between organ and electronic music]. We have begun a steady collaboration with Spaces of Music Festival in Greater Poland area. Also, Stanislaw Suchora – founder of SONORA music – has been invited to take a curator sit of Sound Gallery at the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music in Australia.

In 2017 we have managed to travel over 67 000 km (!) following our artists giving more than 100 concerts on 6 continents. Among many countries visited by us in 2017 we can mention Russia, Switzerland, France, Italy, Iran, Germany and Australia. Upcoming year seems to look very promising as well.

We strongly believe that via discovering the World we are getting to know ourselves ... and by knowing ourselves we are able to understand and connect with the World around us on a deeper level. That is why we would like to wish all of You a New Year full of many fruitful journeys, both to the real far-away lands and to those imaginative, places closest to your hearts. We are also inviting You All to contact us, collaborate and follow our activities.

We will be honored to welcome you on our events in 2018!

With best wishes of success, joy and fulfillment,

Stanisław Suchora and Mikołaj Bylka-Kanecki
