Ana de la Vega - Australian flutist who leapt onto the international classical music scene - joins SONORA Artists

We are proud to announce that SONORA will represent Australian flutist Ana de la Vega in Central and Eastern Europe as well as in France. She recently leapt onto the international classical music scene, attracting unbridled attention for her 'crystal-clear' and 'velvety tone' (NDR Kultur), 'superior, masterful technique' (Fono Forum), 'feathery-light playing' (Der Spiegel), and 'unobtrusive virtuosity' (Pizzicato).

Spectacular breakthrough and future concert plans

In the last 12 months she has made debut appearances at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Philharmonie Berlin, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Wigmore hall & Cadogan Hall London, Essen Philharmonie and Munich Philharmonie am Gasteig.

Recent and forthcoming performance highlights include concerto performances with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Strings, Deutsche Kammerorchester Berlin, English Chamber Orchestra, Prague Royal Philharmonic, Bremer Philharmoniker, Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie and Bochumer Symphoniker.

Internet and media star

Ana remains extraordinarily active online despite the coronavirus. She has a new series on IDAGIO Live called “Flute Reboot” where she walks her listeners through the rich history of the flute and other classic music fables. As Ana’s tour has been canceled, together with Ramon Ortega Quero, Gabriel Schwabe and Paul Rivinus she has recorded a full recital at Palais Lichtenau in Potsdam and published a full recital [watch the video].

Her recent Wigmore Hall concert recording will be soon premiered on Classic FM Facebook. An interview with Ana appeared in the current CRESCENDO magazine, making a front cover story. ARTE TV has now filmed a documentary called ‘Ana de la Vega und die Flöte’ to be released in coming months.

Ana de la Vega's CD releases and repertoire plans

Her debut recording of Mozart and Mysliveček Flute Concertos with the English Chamber Orchestra won Classic FM’s ‘Best Albums of 2018’ No.3, reached No.1 on Amazon’s Classical Best Seller chats, and was 'CD of the week' seven times over [watch video trailer of the album].

Ana's second album of Haydn and Stamitz Concertos with the two-time ECHO Award winner oboist Ramón Ortega Quero and the Trondheim Soloists, makes a similar splash with international press unanimously marvelling at their ‘Perfect Harmony’ (NDR) and ‘grace and elegance’ (WELT): ‘the harmony between the two soloists… is almost dizzying’ (RBB) [watch video about the album].

Among works Ana de la Vega will focus on performiong in the coming seasons are: Mozart Concertos, Stamitz Flute Concerto, the Haydn and Stamitz Double Concertos for flute and oboe, Rautavaara Flute Concerto ‘Dance with Winds’, Nielsen Flute Concerto, the Bach Brandenburg Concertos and a number of exciting recital and chamber music projects.
