New CD by Mari and Mihkel Poll: violin & piano pieces by Poulenc, Enescu, Schoenberg and Tüür

The first collaborative CD by sister and brother Mari and Mihkel Poll from Estonia displays a magnificent panorama of twentieth century music for violin and piano. Musicians perform George Enescu's III Violin Sonata – a reflection of the composer's multicultural experience, growing up surrounded by Romanian and Slavic folklore and learning violin from gypsy musicians. Follows the gloomy Violin Sonata composed by Francis Poulenc during World War II, as well as the sophisticated Fantasy for Violin and Piano – Arnold Schönberg's last instrumental work. Finally, we will get acquainted with the work of Erkki-Sven Tüür, one of most intriguing contemporary composers from Estonia.

The album is available at www.dux.pl. The CD has been published with a support of the City Music Foundation in London and H.R.H. Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia.
