Bach to Samba

Starting with the famous Bach E-Major concerto, followed by the most well known Villa-Lobos melodies, before continuing to world-renowned Samba / Brazilian tunes, Bach to Samba aims to attract both regular classical fans alongside a much needed brand new demographic of classical music lovers. The program brings together Linus Roth, German ECHO Klassik 2017 winner, with Johann Sebastian Rio, chamber orchestra firmly established as the leading light of the new South American classical music scene. The artists will be touring Europe with Bach to Samba program on 15th- 30th of May 2021 and 12th-28th of August 2022.
With his debut EMI album Linus Roth was awarded the ECHO Klassik “newcomer of the year”. Since then, concerts across four continents, in addition to performing and recording with orchestras such as Deutsche Symphonie-Orchestra, BBC Scottish, London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra della Toscana and Munich Chamber Orchestra, under Blomstedt, Honeck, MacMillan and Sanderling have since established him as one of the leading violinists of modern times. Linus Roth became the first in the world to record the complete violin works of Mieczysław Weinberg, whilst he was awarded his second ECHO Klassik award for his most recent CD together with London Symphony Orchestra. Numerous other recordings, such as with Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester, were hailed by critics internationally for “musical integrity and dedication”, whilst his love of chamber music led to concerts with Gautier Capuçon, Kim Kashkashian, Albrecht Mayer, Nils Mönkemeyer, Andreas Ottensamer and Nicolas Altstaedt. Following studies in Freiburg, Zurich and Munich, Linus Roth received support from Anne-Sophie Mutter and her foundation, and plays on the “Dancla” 1703 Stradivarius. Founder of the Int. Weinberg Association, IBIZA CONCERTS festival, artistic director of Schwäbischer Frühling, in addition to being the Professor for Violin in Augsburg University. Based in Munich, Linus spends his free time enjoying fitness sports, gourmet restaurants, boating around his favorite island, Ibiza and fashion.
This unique chamber orchestra Johann Sebastian Rio has been founded with a love of Johann Sebastian (Bach) and their fixed base, Rio (de Janiero). Hugely popular amongst the youth of Brazil, Johann Sebastian Rio is synonymous across their country as the future of classical music.
The program uses original arrangements throughout for violin and string orchestra (including percussion & guitar). This recording strives to keep the identity of classical music & of its performers while catching new audiences by performing more popular genres in a classical style. Repertoire:
